The Open University recognises OLPD Leadership Programme with Post Graduate Accreditation

The OLPD Programme "Effective Leadership: Self, Change and Partnerships" has been given Post Graduate accreditation by the Open University. The first version was run with the NHS Orkney and Orkney Islands Council Partnership 2009-10. NHS Education Scotland (NES), the Improvement Service (IS) and Remote & Rural Health Education Alliance (RRHEAL) sponsored the programme which OLPD designed and provided.

The first alumni received their certification of PG 30 Units (HEQF Level 7 / SCQF Level 11) in November 2010.  The programme entailed: Twelve days of intensive leadership development with Action Learning, a Project, four assessed submissions and online exchange. The four assessments were: Self, Change, Partnerships and the Project Report.

When commended on their commitment and hard work, at the final Steering Group Meeting on 22nd December, 2010, Tom Gilmour and Frances Troup, student representatives, spoke highly of the way the programme had offered them a development journey in which to explore, apply and gain confidence in their leadership in addition to gaining accreditation.

Simon Williams and Pam Nicoll of NES and RRHEAL are currently finalising arrangements with NHS Shetland and partners and with NHS Western Isles  for two new versions of the OLPD programme to run from Spring to Autumn of 2011.
